Pros: Not the worst beer I ever drank...but not far behind Cons: Putrid, foul and generally awful "brew"
I had the horrible misfortune of drinking an Iron City beer when I was a Senior in High School.
It seems that a classmate had an uncle that was from Pittsburgh, and he brought some "real Pittsburgh" beer to the relatives.

Pros: The can is a 5 cent returnable in New York State Cons: Nasty tasting, bitter, ugly beer
Beer museum - a rusty 3rd fridge built in 1962 that is the place where all skunky beer goes to die. My father-in-law is a native Pennsylvanian who lives in Western New York now, and loves the Steelers. He got a case of Iron City Beer to celebrate the...

Pros: Smooth taste, great flavor Cons: hard to come by
Dixie Beer is what Dixie is all about. The smooth Cypress barrel aged taste of Dixie is almost as good as the lemon scented smell of a Magnolia in bloom. Dixie has a quality that reminds me of the slow, easy going days I remember as a boy growing up in...

Pros: Guys who drink Iron City are real men-- Cons: --who've been hit in the nose so many times they've lost their sense of taste.
Well, on yet another of my irresponsible cross-country jaunts I found myself in Pittsburgh, home of Iron City Beer. I was sitting in the hotel's bar and had just had a Yuengling.
"Are you from around here?" asked the bored-looking bartender....

Pros: For 3.99 - Bang for the buck! Cons: It's a generi-beer!
It’s the water…
Today is an unseasonably warm day in San Jose, with the temperatures in the mid 90’s. Whenever the temperature gets that high, I usually switch to something light and refreshing in the beer family. This is really the only...

Pros: great taste, excellent with spicy food Cons: only found in South Louisiana
Everytime I visit New Orleans, I have to grab a Dixie Beer. You can't get this one anywhere else, so you have to take advantage of the opportunity. Dixie is a Louisiana treasure, and is as closely associated with New Orleans as the French...

Pros: Good with meals or alone. Cons: Regional; the farther from Louisiana, the harder to find fresh brew!
I must preface this by stating that I'm in no way a beer expert. I'm not even a huge beer drinker, at least, not since my college days! On the few occasions when I do decide to enjoy some beer, the first thing I look for is Dixie. They are my first...

Pros: Cheap, good, light, refreshing Cons: must be drunken cold
There is a time and a place for everything and the time for Oly is summer. The summer sun beating on your back during a game of hoops can be forgotten about with the first sip of this light truly American beer. Screw Red Bull for wings, this beer gives...

Pros: hometown pride! Cons: not good for the casual drinker.
Yeah, Iron City and IC Light are harsh, and a lot of people think they're absolutely terrible. But I'm here as an official representative of the city to tell you the truth. Iron City is not for the dabbler or the dilettante. You can't just go to...

Pros: Inexpensive Cons: tough to find in northeast
I first had Dixie Beer at a local Mexican and Cajun restaurant. They were out of my usual beer there, Lone Star, and I decided to try a Dixie. I found Dixie to go equally well with Cajun chicken or a fajita, and a hamburger and fries.
Dixie...

Pros: One of the cheapest beers in town Cons: One of the cheapest tasting beers in town.
Ahhh. Cheap beer. What can I say? In the days of my youth the drinking age was only 18 and the government hadn't slapped as many sin taxes on booze as they do now. So, even adjusted for inflation, "cheap beer" was really, really, cheap. I remember in...

Pros: Great taste and tradition Cons: None
Anyone that knows me understands my beer drinking attitude as far as beer is concerned. I really don't care for imports, lagers and stouts. I guess you could say I really am a domestic kind of guy most of the time, except for some Italian and Mexican...

Pros: Makes you look "tough." Cons: Blitzenshites.
I was introduced to this blonde beauty by one of my fraternity brothers who was from Pittsburgh. He had found some at the local grocer's market, and bought a ton since it was relatively difficult to find in our area.
Long story short:...

Pros: lt will make you intoxicated Cons: It doesn't taste very good getting you there
Iron city is brewed deep in the heart of Pittsburgh. The water is rumored to come straight from the Monogahela River. From the taste I believe it.
When I came to the University of Pittsburgh all of my friends said that I just had to try Iron...
