No guarantee on treadwear? That is suspicious!

by mongomad1 , May 13 '07
Pros: The pretty name "Michelin" written on the sidewalls.
Cons: Price does not match the performance nor the very limited guarantee.
No life expectancy of treads? Nearly every set of tires I have ever purchased came with AT LEAST a 5 year/50,000 miles warranty. The Michelin LTX/MS's I put on my Expedition come with a 60,000 mile guarantee. These do not have any such claim ...

Paying for the name--lousy tires
by bloodfury ,Sep 13 '05
Pros: I can truthfully say "It came with Michelins". That's about it.
Cons: $$$, lousy in rain/snow, noisy, poor wearing
These came as OEMs on a 2002 Hyundai Elantra. Right from the get go I was stunned at how lousy these were. Horrible in the rain and snow, squeals around regular cloverleafs at under 30 mph. I hit the wearbars at about 30,000 miles. I dumped these and put Kumho ECSTA H4P 716's on at less than half the price--and got 10 times the tire performance.

Poor performance, especially on wet roads
by ewilson648 ,Feb 21 '05
Pros: Quiet ride
Cons: Poor cornering, horrible traction on wet surfaces, grossly shortened servicable life.
My new 2003 Honda Accord was equipped with these tires from the factory. The performance was poor from the very first day. While the tires are quiet, the provided poor traction, especially on wet surfaces. At less than 40K miles with nearly 50% of original tread remaining, I noticed fish-tailing on wet surfaces.

This is my second similarly bad experience with this line of Michelin tires. They are over-hyped, over-priced, under-performers whose quality probably is deserving of review by the appropriate government body.

The car was refitted with new Goodyear Performance Triple Tred@ tires and now gives a completely different driving experience.

Exceptional Tires!!
by tires2003 ,Sep 27 '03
Pros: Excellent tread wear. Excellent handling. Excellent ride.
Cons: None
These tires came with my 2000 Hyundai purchased new. What a surprise. Almost immediately I noticed the smooth, quiet ride and excellent handling these tires provided - AT any speed. After 52,000 miles these tires are still going strong like the day I bought the car. Most likely, this is the only tire I'll ever need!! I'm buying these for my 2003 voyager which came with budget tires. Cudos to Hyundai for using these Michelins!! I've talked with other Hyundai owners and we are all amazed with these tires. Driving is believing!

The Michelin Energy MXV4 XSE cost more than other tires, which I don't like, but it's clear that in this case you get what you pay for.

High Price, Low Return!!
by digi01 ,Aug 15 '07
Pros: Brand Name, look nice.
Cons: Low mileage for the high price.
Only received 37,000 miles on Michelin Energy MXV4 tires. My car is garage kept and only 3 1/2 years old. When I went to replace, 2 tire dealerships said there was a 50,000 mile warranty. Called Michelin and they said NO! Warranty is 6 years and only covers tire damage, not tread wear. At over $125 per tire (195/65/R15) not worth the return.
