Obvious improvement over VW factory receiver

by DCannon Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Aug 30 '07
Pros: Clean uncluttered face, rear USB, features, quality
Cons: It's silver and most center consoles are black!
I own an 02 Jetta TDI and have had nothing but problems with the factory radio, which apparently is nothing new among VW owners. Great car….crappy radio/receiver. The dealer replaced it twice under warranty, but when the right side speakers started ...

A good head unit that is almost great

by teleplayer75 , Jun 20 '07
Pros: USB input, customizable, 4v preouts, good tuner
Cons: Cluttered/hard to see display, USB device compatibility, confusing menus
I purchased this head unit from Crutchfield for my 2003 Toyota Tacoma. Since I know you're reading this review to learn about all the things I didn't like, I'll start there. USB Interface: My biggest gripe. Not the way it works, but the ...

Great Product

by baguioboy , Jun 22 '07
Pros: Great sound with lots of options to enhance quality.
Cons: Slow HD Loading; goofy fonts; can't randomize playlist.
I bought this unit to replace my Buck's stock stereo. I had the CircuitCity boys install it for about $120 to include labor, housing and misc. wiring stuff. My car has all the factory-installed head unit and speakers. The only upgrade I did to the ...

Great Buy !!!

by el-flako , Nov 14 '07
Pros: 3 pre-amp out-puts Great Navigation Key USB 2.0 Port
Cons: Pioneer still needs to do homework the USB port
Installed it in my 2005 Honda Accord. It improved my sound system significantly. I have two amplifiers (2 channel & 4 channel) hooked up to the pre-amp outputs and it is amazing how sweet the whole thing sounds. Some complained about how the face opened ...

Pioneer deh-p6900ub cd player
by mrdallis ,Apr 24 '07
Pros: rear USB port. CD-rw playback reads mp3,aac & wma
Cons: Only compatible USB storage device made by Seagate, one l.e.d. color
I would have to say that it is simple interface with a full functioning remote control. My main purpose for purchasing the unit was to enable the playback of files from my USB Mass Storage Device ( External Hard Drive ). The unit is capable of reading files on hard drives up to 250g There are the portable hard drives available but they are powered by USB power coming from the USB port, no power supply. This method is sometimes insufficient to the head unit and will give you a display of "No Device".

So I connected a Maxtor One Touch 160g external hard drive to the head unit using a Power Inverter. Problem solved? Not exactly. The head unit recognized the drive but did not find any of the MP3,Wma,Wav or AAC files stored on it.
After hours of troubleshooting I finally decided to call Pioneer Electronics Tech Support and I was told that a tested and proven Mass Storage Device was any Seagate Brand Hard Drive with a power supply.

Superb sound for cheap price
by zahirl ,Feb 19 '08
Pros: Good price, better sound
Cons: usb connection at the back
I'm looking for a budget head unit but at the same time a usb connection is a must. I was about to buy the Sony Xplod for a little less money but most of my audio expert friends told me to get a Pioneer instead. So the only choice was the P6900UB for my budget and for the usb connection. Boy I was glad I got the Pioneer because it sound better than the Xplod. The only thing I like with the Sony Xplod was the usb connector is in front while the Pioneer is in the back. USB can play hard disk or flash drive and some says this thing can handle up to 80gb of hard disk.

Anyways, without an amplifier or subwoofer, this head unit is more than enough to get you in spirited driving mode.

Definitely will recommend to my friends.
